Dental implants consist of three main components: a titanium post (screw), an abutment, and a crown. The titanium post is surgically placed into your jawbone and acts as a replacement for your tooth root. Once the implant integrates with the bone, a custom-made dental crown is attached to the post, creating a natural-looking and fully functional tooth.
You can get a single tooth implant if you have just one missing tooth. Or, you can get multiple implants (All-on-4, All-on-6, and more). These dental implant processes not only restore the appearance of your smile, but also maintain jawbone health and prevent surrounding teeth from shifting.
Why Choose Dental Implants?
Natural Appearance
Implants are designed to match the colour and contours of your natural teeth, for an attractive smile that turns heads for all the right reasons.
Durability
Treatment time ranges from 6 to 18 months, and costs increase the longer it continues.
Bone Preservation
Unlike regular dentures, the titanium post stimulates bone growth, prevents bone loss, and maintains the structure of your face.
Improved Function
Dental implants allow you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence, as they function like natural teeth.
Oral Health
Unlike bridges, implants don’t require altering the teeth next to them, which preserves your natural tooth structure.
What’s the Procedure for Getting Dental Implants?
Book an appointment with us if you’re considering dental implants in Sydney. Our skilled dental staff will be able to assess your situation and create an implant treatment plan just for you.
- Consultation: Your journey begins with an initial consultation, followed by X-rays, CBCT scans, and possibly creating models. Our team also uses iTero Element intraoral scanners for precise digital records and optimal treatment planning. After a thorough review and discussion, you’ll receive a personalised treatment plan and an estimated cost for your implant surgery. At this stage, your dentist will also discuss whether you need any bone grafting for your dental implant.
- Implant Placement: The titanium posts will be surgically inserted into your jawbone under local anaesthesia for your comfort.
- Healing Period: Over the next few months, the implants integrate (fuse) with the bone in a process called osseointegration. Temporary crowns may be placed during this time, which will give you a natural look, although they aren’t as durable as the final crowns.
- Abutment Placement: Once the implants have fused with the bone, an abutment is attached to each implant post to hold the final crown.
- Final Restoration: A custom-made dental crown is securely attached to each abutment, completing your smile restoration. You’ll walk out of our bondi junction dental clinic with a sparkling smile and confidence to match!
